Quickstart

Create a Workspace, add one real file, connect your AI, and ask one question. About ten minutes.

This is the shortest path to a first grounded answer: an answer your AI writes from your own files, with citations. You need a CompanyOS account and one AI Client: Claude, ChatGPT, or Codex.

1. Create a Workspace

Sign up at app.companyos.cc. A Workspace is the boundary for one group that shares the same files: a company, a department, or a team. You become its Owner.

CompanyOS is free while it is in beta. No card is needed. See Beta and pricing.

2. Add one real file

Open Files and upload a document your team already asks about, such as a handbook, a process note, or last week’s update. Skip placeholders; the check at the end only means something with real material.

  • A Company File is visible to every Member of the Workspace.
  • A Personal File is visible only to the Member who added it.

Wait until the file shows as ready. CompanyOS parses it, indexes it, and maps how it relates to your other files. See Files.

3. Connect your AI

Copy the connection link from AI Clients:

https://app.companyos.cc/api/mcp

Paste it into your AI Client as a remote MCP server (a “custom connector”), then sign in to CompanyOS and pick the Workspace. There is no client ID, client secret, or API key.

If a client asks for a context or token allowance, set it to 50,000. Grok is not a supported client.

4. Ask one question

In a new chat with the connector enabled, ask:

What are the most important things I should know from this workspace? Cite the files you used.

A grounded answer names or cites your files. A generic answer means the AI did not read from CompanyOS: check that the connector is enabled for this chat and that the Workspace has a ready file.

CompanyOS marks the Workspace as active from that real read, not from a checkbox.

5. Invite your team

Open Members and invite the people who should share this context. Each person connects their own AI account; nobody shares a login or a chat history.
